President Chirac let himself speak freely on Iran and started a public debate.
In an interview granted to the New Observer, New York Times and Herald Platform, President Chirac stated that Iran provided with one or two atomic bombs would not be "very dangerous," and that even if Iran sent a nuclear bomb, it would not make not it 200 meters in the air and "Teheran would be shaven." Remarks largely taken by the American press, then "rectified" immediately by the French government.
