SHINZEN DOJO was born officially in September 1999, but its history begins in the late Eighties when several Parisian dojos combined their efforts to follow the Japanese sabre teaching began by Bernard DURAND, 7th daN Kyoshi of Kendo.

While remaining faithful to the teaching of Bernard DURAND, the founders wanted to give a new identity and flavor to their group and to define the spirit in which they wanted to practise the disciplines which represent the way of the Japanese sabre as well as Philippe SEJALON, president of SHINZEN DOJO.
